Born on June 24, 1952 in Salekhard.
1974: Graduated from the Tyumen Industrial Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
1991: Graduated from the Presidential Management Academy in Moscow with a degree in Political Science.
2003: Received PhD in Engineering.
1976-1989: Served as a Young Communist League official, then a Communist Party official.
1989-1990: Head of a Transport, Communications and Information Subcommission at the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Moscow.
From 1990: Chairman of the Surgut District Soviet of People's Deputies.
1992: Appointed Deputy Head of the Tyumen Region's Administration.
February 1994 - present: Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, Head of the regional Administration.
1998: Awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation in science and technology for a series of studies Prospecting, Exploration and Development of Gas Deposits in the Far North and Siberia.
2002: Awarded the Prize of the Russian Federation Government in science and technology for theoretical work and launching production of a new generation of IT for managing the development of oil, gas and condensate deposits.
Married, with a son.
