“The meeting participants considered a draft declaration on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union. We expect the “troika” heads of state to sign the declaration as early as December. The idea of setting up the Eurasian Economic Union will thus assume a concrete shape.”

The latest round of Russian-Chinese talks in Beijing has reaffirmed the truly strategic nature of bilateral relations, Mr Putin told the media, adding that the political dialogue between the two countries continues to advance, the horizons of their cultural exchange are expanding, and economic and regional cooperation is growing stronger.
“The Common Economic Space should be operational starting on January 1, 2012, resulting in a higher level of integration between Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. I am confident that this substantial and far-reaching project will be implemented successfully.”
Vladimir Putin expressed his hope that the global economy will begin to recover. “Perhaps not as quickly as we would all like, but it will begin to gradually recover,” the prime minister said.
