Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the Indian president and is the core of the administrative complex of New Delhi.

The building was designed by English architect Edwin Lutyens as a palace for the British Viceroy of India. It was built in 1929.

Architect Herbert Baker supervised the construction.

The Presidential palace is located in an extensive, picturesque park and is executed in a style sometimes called Anglo-Indian. Monumentality is combined with the decorative effect created by the Eastern arches and domes.

There is a circular throne room in the centre of the palace (the Darbar Hall) with a diameter of 25 m.
