1992: graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 1992 with a law degree.
1985: youth branch of Danish Liberal Party Venstre, board member.
1986-1990: youth branch of Danish Liberal Party Venstre, chairman.
1994-1998, 2001: member of the Danish parliament (Folketinget).
1998: Danish Liberal Party Venstre, deputy chairman.
1998-2001: mayor of Frederiksborg County.
2001-2007: Interior and Health Minister.
Greatly contributed to developing projects to reform Denmark's public sector. Spearheaded the municipal reform in Denmark.
2007-2009: Minister of Finance.
April 5, 2009: appointed Prime Minister following newly-chosen NATO General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen's resignation as Prime Minister.
Married with three children.
