1999: PhD in Economics, dissertation "State Regulation of the Tax System" ( National Economic University in Kiev).

1984: Engineer-economist at the Lenin Machine Building Plant, Dnepropetrovsk.
1989: Business manager at the Terminal Youth Center, Dnepropetrovsk.
1991: Sales manager, subsequently Director General of Ukrainian Gasoline Corporation.
1995-1997: President of the industrial and financial corporation United Energy Systems of Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk.
December 1999 - January 2001: Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee to Reform the Fuel and Energy Complex.
Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the second, third and fourth convocations.
February 2005 - September 2005: Prime Minister.
After dismissal, led the Yulia Tymoshenko Block in the Verkhovna Rada.
December 18, 2007: Re-appointed Prime Minister.
