1996 - Elected Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP), General Secretary.
1997 - 2000 - The State Great Hural, member; the MPRP parliamentary group, Head.
June, 1997 - Elected MPRP Chairman.
2000 - 2004 - The State Great Hural, member; Prime Minister of Mongolia.
2004 - Elected to the State Great Hural from the 65th District of Ulan Bator as an MPRP nominee.
August 13, 2004 - Elected State Great Hural Chairman.
May, 2005 - Wins the presidential election.
