International Visits

13 may, 2009 16:47

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin met with Damdiny Demberel, Speaker of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Vladimir Putin: Our visit to Mongolia is proceeding successfully. We have reached agreements on nearly all issues we have discussed.

Some issues entail additional coordination and work in the Government, in particular tariff and non-tariff regulation of border crossings and development of infrastructure.

We have agreed, in principle, on some issues regarding investment, establishment of joint ventures and their development, the issue of loans, and financing of prospective plans.

We will continue to monitor and highlight current issues.

Inter-parliamentary ties are especially important for the development of interstate relations. I would like to thank the leading political forces and minority parties for reaching a consensus on the development of relations with Russia.

I believe that we could pay more attention not only to direct inter-parliamentary ties and friendship groups but also to direct relations between parties. I think it would be correct if the leading parties, such as the Democratic Party of Mongolia, could find direct partners on the Russian political scene. This would definitely expand the basis for mutual understanding.

In general, I would like to say that we are very satisfied with the development of our interstate relations.
