Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s visit to Japan resulted in the signing of a series of bilateral agreements

The following agreements were signed in the presence of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Japanese counterpart Taro Aso:

• The Accord between the Russian Federation and Japan on Mutual Legal Aid in Criminal Cases;

• The Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Japan on Cooperation in the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy;

• The Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Japan on Cooperation and Mutual Aid in Customs Affairs;

• The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan on the Use and Enhancement of Power Efficiency of Renewable Energy Sources;

• The Joint Statement of Russia's Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan on Cooperation and Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy;

• The Memorandum between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Japan on the General Principles of Future Cooperation to Prevent Illegal, Secret and Unregulated Fishing of Marine Living Resources and Illegal Export of Products Derived from Them.

The following documents were also signed during the visit:

• The Programme of Cooperation between the Government of the Russian Federation, the Government of Japan and Authorities of the Two States' Contiguous Areas in the Study, Preservation and Rational and Sustainable Exploitation of Ecosystems;

• The Executive Agreement between Russia's Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation and the Russian-Japanese Cooperation Committee to Promote the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, which are subject to reduction in the Russian Federation, with regard to cooperation in constructing a ground-based facility to store reactor blocks of recycled nuclear submarines in Russia's Far East.
