Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus

August 30, 1954: born in the Vitebsk Region, Belarus.
1975: Graduated from Mogilev Pedagogical Institute.
Upon graduation, Alexander Lukashenko volunteered to join the Armed Forces, in which he served as an advisor to the political department of the Western Border District, Brest.
1977-1980: Secretary to the Komsomol Committee of the City's Food Trade Organisation, Mogilev; Advisor to the Oktyabrsky District Executive Committee, Mogilev; Executive Secretary to Znaniye District Organisation, Shklov, Mogilev Region.
1980: Returned to military service as a deputy squad commander for political workpurposes.
1982: Deputy Chairman of Udarnik collective farm, Shklov District, Modilev Region; Deputy Head of Shklov Construction Materials Plant; Secretary of the Party Committee of Lenin collective farm, Shklov District.
1985: Graduated from Belarusian Agricultural Academy (extramural education).
1987: Director of Gorodets state farm, Shklov District.
1990: Deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the Belarusian SSR; Chairman of the Provisional Parliamentary Committee for the Research of Business Corporations' Activities under the State Government.
July 10, 1994: Elected President of Belarus. Through the 1996 referendum, the presidential term was extended to five years.
September 2001: Elected to a second term as President.
March 2006: Elected to a third term as President.
December 19, 2010: Elected to a fourth term as President.
Alexander Lukashenko is Chairman of the Union State's Supreme State Council.
Married, with three sons.
