Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Finnish counterpart Matti Vanhanen sign an agreement extending the Finnish lease of the Russian part of the Saimaa Canal and adjacent territories, as well as regulating navigation through the canal

 
 
 

In addition to the agreement extending the lease of the Saimaa Canal, the following documents have been signed in the presence of the Russian and Finnish prime ministers:

- A Memorandum on Cooperation between Sovcomflot, Rosmorport and Gosmorspassluzhba Rossii on one side, and SET Group, Aker Arctic Technology Inc and STX Finland on the other.

- A shareholder's agreement between Transmashholding and Wartsila.
