The Building Housing The Office Of The Federal Chancellor Of The Austrian Republic

The building of the Federal Chancellor's Office is situated in the immediate vicinity of Hofburg Palace. It was built as a palace in the Baroque style in 1717-1721 by architect Lucas von Hildebrandt to accommodate the Austrian State Chancellery. In 1764-1767, architect Nicolo Pacassi redesigned the building. In 1814 and 1815, the building hosted the Congress of Vienna sessions.
On September 10, 1944, the right wing of the building was completely destroyed in a bombing. The reconstruction of the façade was finished by April 1946 and the interior was refinished by November 1950.
