A.P. Moller-Maersk is the largest diversified multinational corporation in Denmark. It has subsidiaries and representative offices in 130 countries and employs more than 115,000 personnel.
In terms of revenue ($49.1 billion in 2009), it is the largest company in Denmark and one of the 500 largest companies in the world.

Established in 1904, the company's operations include container and cargo ocean transport; developing and exploiting oil and gas deposits; shipbuilding; and building and operating container terminals. In addition, the company has interests in the chemical, medical and electronics industries, information technology, manufacturing and wholesale and retail trade.

A.P. Moller-Maersk has an exclusive concession to explore and produce oil and gas in the Danish sector of the North Sea (the concession is valid until 2042). The company is also actively involved in the development of oil and gas fields in Algeria, Brazil, the UK, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Oman and Turkmenistan, extracting more than 350,000 barrels of oil and 700 million cubic metres of gas per day.

Through its subsidiary APM Terminals, the company operates 36 container terminals in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Maersk Line is the world's largest container ship operator and A.P. Moller-Maersk's flagship company in the maritime transport industry. Founded in 1928, the company now has more than 500 ships and two million 20-foot containers, as well as about 330 branches in 125 countries, including Russia. The company has branches in St Petersburg, Moscow, Novorossiisk, Vladivostok and Kaliningrad.

Maersk Line services 20% of the container transport market in Russia. The company transports more than 25% of container exports from Russia to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East, as well as 20% of the container cargo imported from these regions to Russia.
