Naberezhnye Chelny

Naberezhnye Chelny is a large railway and highway junction, an airport hub and a port on the Kama River.

The main industries of the city are mechanical engineering, electric power, building and processing industries.

There are over 2,000 manufacturing and building enterprises in the Naberezhnye Chelny city, such as KAMAZ, Sollers - Naberezhnye Chelny, Naberezhnye Chelny Pulp-and-Paper Plant, Nizhnekamskneftekhim, the 1,248-MW Nizhnekamskaya hydroelectric power plant, the Naberezhnochelninskaya Thermal Power Plant, Kamgesenergostroi and various building enterprises.

Over eighty ethnic entities are represented in the city, and there are 17 ethnic communities there. The city's population is 506,100.
