Ufa transformer works

Elektrozavod is Russia's largest multiproduct engineering company working in the construction, rebuilding and modernisation of power facilities. Elektrozavod's equipment is supplied to over 60 countries around the world as well as to all of Russia's regions. The company employs over 4,500 workers.

Electrozavod invested in a transformer manufacturing facility project in Bashkortostan, which appears to be the largest in Europe. The total investment exceeded 5 billion roubles and construction lasted from 2005 to 2009. A project of this scale is unprecedented in the CIS in the last 30 years. Production processes include advanced and environmentally safe technology, processes which have only recently been adopted by foreign companies and by no other company in Russia at all.
The facility is expected to produce equipment with a total generating capacity exceeding 27 million kilovolt-amperes a year. The enterprise will manufacture a wide variety of power transformers with voltage generating capacities of up to 220 kilovolts and up to 200 Megavoltamperes. The product range will also include distribution transformers with capacity of up to 1600 kilovolt-amperes and voltage up to 35 kilovolts. A separate building will support state of the art switching equipment manufacturing.

Putting into operation the Ufa Transformer Works is a step in implementing an import replacement programme for the power generating industry drafted by the Russian government.

The new facility will also have a significant effect on the local population, as it will employ around 2,000 workers, boosting regional budget revenues and social insurance contributions.
