Grazhdansky cattle breeding farm

The Grazhdansky cattle breeding farm, a closed joint-stock company established in 1945, is one of the major agricultural enterprises in Leningrad Region's Priozyorsk district. The company specializes in raising Black Spotted herd cattle, meat and milk production, crop cultivation and fodder storage.

The company's activities are dominated by cattle breeding, with the cattle stock reaching 2,795 head, including 1,110 cows as of December 31, 2009. In 2009, milk yield per forage-fed cow totaled 9,508 kilograms, a 41-kilogram increase over 2008. This positive development in cattle breeding has been achieved through livestock selection and expanding forage reserves. The farm produces extra and first quality class milk which is delivered to the Petmol dairy producer, a branch of the St Petersburg-based dairy manufacturer Yunimilk.

The farm also supplies herd bulls and calf bearing cows to Russia's other districts and regions.

In the past few years, the company has expanded its production volumes, introducing new technology and equipment in crop raising and cattle breeding.

Since 2007, the Grazhdansky cattle breeding farm has been part of the national priority project, Expanding the Agricultural Sector, concentrating on accelerated development of cattle breeding. The farm has taken a long-term loan to reconstruct the farm's livestock facilities. Also since 2007 the company has reconstructed a stockyard for 720 head, allowing free cattle movement and the automated Karusel milking facility equipped with milking and feeding control systems and selection gates. In 2008, the company completed rebuilding a stockyard with a capacity of 384 head.

The farm employs a total of 206 people. Future plans include reconstructing the milk farm and increasing the cattle stock, which will provide additional jobs.
