On his arrival in Sochi Prime Minister Vladimir Putin inspected the airport’s buildings and facilities
The average handling capacity of Sochi Airport is 2,500 passengers an hour: 500 in the international terminal and 2,000 in the domestic one. The airport will follow the international practice of dividing international and domestic passengers.
At the first stage of construction, the airport terminal building was commissioned. It will be followed by a flight gallery with ten passenger boarding bridges and a VIP terminal.
While inspecting the airport, Prime Minister Putin mentioned travel safety. He said that today he signed the government's resolution on granting an additional subsidy of one billion roubles to Russian Railways to tighten security.
Minister of Transport Igor Levitin specified that these funds would be used to bolster security on the Moscow-St Petersburg railway line.
