

The history of the KAMAZ Group dates back to 1969, when it was known as the Kamsk Heavy-Duty Truck Plants Complex (the KAMAZ Production Association). In 1990, the KAMAZ Production Association became a joint-stock company. The company currently ranks 11th in the world in heavy-duty truck production and eighth in the production of engines for heavy-duty trucks.
The company's first heavy-duty truck rolled off the assembly line on February 16, 1976. Since then, it has made more than 1.9 million vehicles and 2.5 million engines. One out of two trucks, weighing between 14 and 40 tonnes, used in Russia and the CIS is a KAMAZ. One in every four new KAMAZ trucks is exported: KAMAZ vehicles are used in 83 countries.
KAMAZ has more than 30 main models of truck on its production line as well as over 400 modified versions and customised models, diesel and gas engines, spare parts and motor components, instrumentation, equipment and product diversification.
The group of organisations of KAMAZ includes 14 automotive manufacturing organisations (ranging from metallurgical engineering and metalworking to the assembly, repair and maintenance of automotive equipment), and five assembly plants (in Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Iran, Pakistan and North Korea). The company's largest subsidiaries outside Naberezhnye Chelny are: Neftekamsk Auto Plant (Neftekamsky Avtozavod) and Tuimazy Concrete Mixer Truck Plant (Tuimazinsky Zavod Avtobetonosmesitelei) in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Trailer-KAMAZ (Avtopritsep-KAMAZ) in Stavropol, and KAMAZ Automotive Equipment (KAMAZavtotekhnika) in Zainsk, Republic of Tatarstan.
KAMAZ works with over 500 suppliers in Russia, the CIS countries and further afield, and with 120 special vehicle manufacturers in Russia.
KAMAZ is the market leader for new trucks weighing over 16 tons in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine. For 10 consecutive years, KAMAZ has been recognised as the Russian Federation's Best Exporter in the machine-building sector.
KAMAZ integrates advanced technology into its production and is establishing joint ventures with global auto parts manufacturers. KAMAZ's partners in establishing such JVs include Zahnrad Fabrik and Knorr-Bremse in Germany and Cummins and Federal Mogul in the United States. KAMAZ uses technology from companies such as Bosch, Mann Hummel and Wabco during the production of new trucks.
In 2008, KAMAZ launched assembly production of tractors.
KAMAZ is working to establish joint ventures with leading automotive companies in order to diversify its sales structure and consolidate its position as Russia's leading truck manufacturer.
In 2009, KAMAZ began production of a line of trucks boasting redesigned cabs.
December 16, 2009 is KAMAZ's 40th anniversary. In its long history, KAMAZ has rightfully earned its title as the leading Russian truck manufacturer.
