

Far Eastern Federal University occupies a total floorspace of 200,000 square metres, including educational facilities, offices, hotels with a capacity for 5,500 guests, a gym, a swimming pool and outdoor sports grounds. There are three parking lots, two of them multi-level parking garages.
After the APEC summit, the hotels will be rebuilt as apartment buildings to be used by university faculty and as student dormitories.
The total value of the project is 41.67 billion roubles. The preparations for the construction began on April 28, 2009. The customer is the Far Eastern Directorate of Rosstroi, the federal agency for construction, housing and public utilities; the contractor general is Crocus International.
The university facilities to be completed at the first stage of the project, will serve 12,500 students. The buildings will have a total floorspace of 500,000 square metres.
Currently the project involves felling the forest and clearing the construction site for nine hotels and the main university building. The foundations are being laid and concrete poured, temporary roads are being built and existing roads expanded and paved with asphalt.
As of September 21, 2009, the project employed 1,500 people; in a year, the number is to reach 12,000.
