Vladimir Putin, who arrived on a working trip to the Far Eastern Federal District, assessed the ongoing reconstruction of Knevichi Airport in Vladivostok

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who arrived on a working trip to the Far Eastern Federal District, assessed the ongoing reconstruction of Knevichi Airport in Vladivostok.

Transport Minister Igor Levitin briefed the Prime Minister on the combined schedule of reconstruction works, which began in June 2009 and are to be completed in late 2011.

Mr Levitin showed Mr Putin the airport's pre-reconstruction plan on a photo diagram and told him about specific changes being made as part of the reconstruction project. Prime Minister Putin also assessed general annual airport construction plans.

Mr Levitin also showed the Prime Minister the changes on a mock-up with controlled lights and told him about work to be implemented in subsequent reconstruction stages.

The Prime Minister also inspected a mock-up of the new Vladivostok International Airport air terminal complex, an air terminal handling international and domestic flights, the airport square, a platform and a parking lot.

In addition, Mr Putin was shown a renovated runway whose length has been extended to 3,500 metres.
