

Born August 10, 1957 in the Orenburg Region
1981: Graduated from the Ufa Oil Institute specializing in technologies and comprehensive mechanization of oil and gas development, qualified as a mining engineer and awarded with an honours degree.
1981: Worked in the oil and gas industry, Sakhalin Region. Began his career as well service operator and rose to director of Okhaneftegaz oil and gas production department.
1993: appointed director general of Sakhalinmorneftegaz, part of the state company Rosneft, later incorporated as Rosneft, an open joint-stock company.
1998: appointed president of Rosneft by a Government Executive Order.
State awards include Order of Honour, Order for Services to the Fatherland, fourth and third class, the titles Honorary Oil Producer and Merited Worker of the Oil and Gas Industry.
Sergei Bogdanchikov, PhD and author of a number of research publications, heads the Energy Security Department at Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
June 2006: President of the All-Russian Association of Summer Olympic Sports, and is first vice-president of Russia's Olympic Committee.
