Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transportation system

Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transportation system

The Eastern Gas Programme prioritises the construction and development of the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transportation system, which will become the base of the Unified Gas Supply System in eastern Russia. The system will be connected to the pipeline stretching from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). At the same time, a large part of the pipeline system will run within an integrated corridor with the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) oil pipeline.
The system will ensure gas supplies to the Khabarovsk Territory, the Jewish Autonomous Region, and the Sakhalin Region. The pipeline will contribute to increased gas supplies to Vladivostok and ensure the launch of generating capacities in the Primorye Territory, in particular, for the 2012 APEC summit.
The Sakhalin-1 project will be the main supplier of gas for the system.
Gazprom Invest Vostok (a 100% Gazprom subsidiary established in 2007) was appointed Gazprom's investment projects customer within the Eastern Gas Programme implementation.
The first start-up complex of the system, which will be put into operation by the 3rd quarter of 2011, will be 1,350 kilometres long and have an annual capacity of 6 billion cubic metres of gas. In prospect, the length of the pipeline will be about 1,800 kilometres, and it will transport about 30 billion cubic metres of Sakhalin gas. This will satisfy the demand for gas of some consumers in the Far East and create a potential for gas exports to Asia-Pacific countries.
The Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transportation system will be put into operation simultaneously with the launch of LNG and gas chemical plants in the the Primorye Territory.
