Rostselmash

Background

The Rostselmash company is a member of the Novoye Sodruzhestvo industrial union. The total personnel, including those of its subsidiaries, are about 10,000. Valery Maltsev is the company's general director.

The company accounts for 17% of the global market and 65% of the Russian and CIS markets. In 2007-2008, Rostselmash supplied 6,300 harvesting machines to Russian and foreign customers, 20% over the previous year. The company's total sales grew by 38.8%, exceeding 20 billion roubles.

History

July 21, 1929 is considered to be Rostselmash's birthday, when the first run of products, including carts, dump rakes, tractor ploughs and seeding machines was manufactured. A year later the first Soviet harvesters, the Kolkhoz model, were produced. In May 1932 the first freight train loaded with harvesters left the factory. Since its foundation Rostselmash has delivered over 2,600,000 units of agricultural machinery to clients around the world.

Product line (harvesters)

The Rostselmash company manufactures ACROS, VECTOR, and Niva-Effekt harvester-threshers and DON 680М fodder harvesters. Sales and service are performed through Europe's large dealer network, which includes 200 service centres.

Canadian tractor-manufacturing assets

In October 2007, Rostselmash finalised the acquisition of a majority interest in Buhler Industries Inc, the Canadian-based manufacturer of VERSATILE tractors and other farming machinery. Starting last autumn, the KLEVER line of trailing and suspended-type units for fodder, sunflower and corn harvesting and grain processing were sold under the Rostselmash brand.

Rostselmash products are well known in Russia and the CIS as well as in many other countries, including Canada, Romania, Bulgaria, China, Turkey, Mongolia and others.

According to Soyuzagromash, Rostselmash machinery has been delivered to 23 countries during the past five years, with the VECTOR harvester topping the list of Russia's harvester exports.

Today, the company continues to develop new models of harvesting machines and adapters. These include the RSM 181 rotary harvester-thresher, ES 1 cutter-rower and the RSM 1401 fodder harvester, all scheduled for mass production in 2009.
