Prime Minister Vladimir Putin toured Russian transport universities’ innovative development exposition at the Siberian State Transport University in Novosibirsk

President of the Russian Transport Universities Association, Rector of Moscow State University of Railway Engineering, Boris Lyovin, told the Prime Minister about Russian transport universities' latest developments. Vladimir Putin was shown a system for probing the soil under a roadbed down to 50 metres, and an automated system for roadbed repair and maintenance.
In addition, a terrain scanning laser system, which is used to build new motorways, and a system of digital modeling for highway construction were demonstrated.
The Prime Minister said that highway construction technology in Russia must be up-to-date. "When a car drives onto or off a bridge, the driver should not feel it. This is important. We should use cutting-edge technology, especially in harsh Siberian conditions," he said addressing the transport university students.

During the tour of Russian transport universities innovative development exposition at the Siberian State Transport University, Vladimir Putin visited a system analysis laboratory, where he talked with students and staff.
One of the students told the Prime Minister that the sector's investment risk forecasts should embrace a 25-year period, and that both innovative and traditional development models should be considered when making a prognosis. The student noted that he calculates indices while taking into account the crisis which has stricken Russia. "There is no crisis in this country," Vladimir Putin corrected the student.
