Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School (Institute) is a federal state institution of higher professional education to train qualified specialists for the civil aviation of Russia and some other countries under higher, post-graduate and further professional education curricula. The following licensed specialities are available:

Higher professional education:

"Flight operation of aircraft" to produce specialists that qualify as "engineer pilots" trained full time or by correspondence and "flight engineers" trained by correspondence;

"Air navigation service and use of airspace" to produce specialists that qualify as "air traffic control engineers" trained full time or by correspondence;

"Safety of technological and production processes" (on air transport) to produce specialists that qualify as "rescue engineers" trained full time or by correspondence;

"Corporate management" to produce specialists that qualify as "air transport managers" trained full time or by correspondence.

The student body includes 977 cadets (including 365 pilots) training full time and 599 students training by correspondence. The school has graduated a total of 876 full-time trained pilots.

Post-graduate professional education:

"Air transport operations" - the current group includes 20 post-graduates and three degree candidates.

Further professional education:

Training, retraining and advanced training with a regular annual output of up to 2,000 aviation specialists in different fields: crews for the Yak-18T, An-2, M-101T, Yak-40, Yak-42, An-24/26, An-12, An-124, Il-76, Il-86, Tu-134, Tu-154 B/M, and Tu-204, engineer-technical staff for the above aircraft, specialists in air traffic control, promotion of aviation safety, search and rescue, etc.

The school also trains foreign professionals, having recently trained crews for Syrian Air, Syria's air force, Latvia, Egypt and Israel.
