The building's facades are lavishly decorated in the Russian style characteristic of Astrakhan and other cities on the Volga, and bas-relief portraits of luminaries of Russian and foreign culture.
The theatre will have an auditorium seating 1,000 and a rehearsal room with 300 seats. The transformable sloping floor of the auditorium makes the stage one whole with the pit to increase the total space to 1,700 sq m for municipal and regional ceremonial occasions.
The auditorium and the smaller concert hall will have active architectural acoustic systems.
The theatre will be equipped for simultaneous translation.
The premises and equipment will allow staging even the most technically sophisticated musicals, rock concerts and pageants.
The project envisages the latest energy-saving devices-heating, plumbing, ventilation and air conditioning, electricity supply and lighting, building management, video surveillance, emergency communication and alarms and, last but not least, lifts, including for wheelchairs.
Botanical gardens surrounding the theatre will have an original landscape design with statuary, walks and flowerbeds. Supporting walls and the space under the stairs will house maintenance services for the gardens, whose unique plants indigenous to the Astrakhan Region demand specific conditions.
The theatre is already 70% complete, with the frame of the building assembled, and decoration and equipment installation underway.
