Federal Cardiovascular Surgery Centre in Astrakhan

The centre is being built in compliance with Government Resolution No 139, of March 20, 2006, On the Construction of Federal Centres for High Medical Technologies.

The Astrakhan centre specialises in elective cardiovascular surgery and uses high-tech equipment from the best foreign manufacturers.

The centre will cater for the Astrakhan and neighbouring Russian regions and other former Soviet republics.

The building consists of modules supplied by Cadolto, Germany-a major company specialising in prefabricated modular construction, with medical and engineering equipment installed at the factory.

The centre will have:

• An outpatient clinic for adults and children;
• A hospital with 167 beds, 17 of them children's;
• Adults' consultation clinic for 60 patients a day;
• Children's consultation clinic for 40 patients a day;
• Surgery block;
• Intensive care ward;
• Clinical diagnostic laboratory;
• Sterilisation block;
• Radiation diagnostic ward;
• Specialists' offices;
• Kitchen and canteens;
• Disinfection block;
• Administrative offices and auxiliary services.

The centre will employ 768 people, including 16 prominent surgeons invited from other cities.

Module interior finishing and equipment assembly are underway now.

Adults' and children's consultation clinics opened in July 2008. The entire centre will open in September 2008.
