Project Sever and the Terminal for Light Oil Products Reloading in the Port of Primorsk

Along with the oil transfer terminal, the light oil products transfer terminal is a part of the Primorsk port. The main task of this terminal is the transfer of light oil products coming from the Kstovo-Yaroslavl-Kirishi-Primorsk oil pipeline (project Sever), which was built in autumn 2007.

The project capacity of the terminal - 24 million tons per year.

The capacity of the first stage, which is to be launched on May 14 of this year, is 8.4 million tons per year. The construction of the second stage, with a capacity of up to 17 million tons per year, may be completed in 10 months.

The startup of the first stage will allow the creation of a competitive plan for the export of Russian oil products and switch cargo traffic from the Baltic countries to Russian ports.

The hydrotechnical installations are the approach pier and a berth of about 360 metres long that can accept ships of up to 80,000 tons at 15-16 metres of natural depth.

The reservoir stock of the first stage of the terminal consists of 12 reservoirs of 20,000 cubic metres each. While working at full capacity, the reservoir stock is to consist of 36 reservoirs of 20,000 cubic metres each.

The first oil products of the new terminal will be loaded on to the product-carrying tanker Transsibirsky Most, which was built at the Admiralteiskie Verfi by order of the Russian Shipping Group Sovkomflot in April 2008.

The tanker Transsibirsky Most is intended for carrying up to five different types of cargo at the same time, including crude oil and oil products, in 10 cargo containers. The tanker's displacement weight is 47,400 tons. It is 182.5 metres long and 32.19 metres wide, and has a range of over 15,000 miles. The ship was given the Lloyd's Shipping Register category - Environment Protection - which means that the tanker complies with the highest ecological standards.

The tanker Transsibirsky Most is named after the great Russian transport highway to mark the 170th anniversary of Russian railways. The tanker also holds the valid exposition devoted to the Trans-Siberian Railway and its history.

The Transsibirsky Most is the eighth and the last ship in a series of product-carrying tankers built at the Admiralteiskie Verfi for Sovkomflot. Earlier Russian shipbuilders commissioned the tankers Troitsky Most, Tuchkov Most, Bashenny Most, Torgovy Most, Teatralny Most, Tavrichesky Most and Tverskoy Most.
