North Caucasus Youth Forum Mashuk

This forum is an annual social project aimed at selecting and training the district's best representatives of the younger generation with an interest in politics, the economy, innovations, civil initiatives and creative endeavours.

It is organised by the office of the presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the district and the Stavropol Territory government with the assistance of the federal Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy.

The forum's main goals:

creating conditions for joint work, studies and leisure for the North Caucasus youth;

integrating the district's youth into the country's life, introducing it to other regions and national and historical traditions of other ethnic groups in Russia;

helping the youth choose professions and find jobs on the labour market;

developing and promoting services and tourism;

training active young managers, politicians and youth leaders in different spheres of public life;

forming a common information space for the youth in the North Caucasus;

creating conditions for the district youth' scientific, innovative, intellectual and creative development and personal fulfilment.

The forum has been held twice, in 2010 and 2011. This year it took place in Pyatigorsk from July 3 to 19, at the foothill of the Mashuk Mountain and gathered more than 2,000 young people aged from 18 to 30. It was attended by delegations from Ukraine, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, the Krasnodar Territory, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.

The forum was the venue for different educational programmes, training sessions, master classes, lectures and meetings with outstanding politicians, business people, athletes and cultural figures. A tender for grant-funded projects was held in many nominations: science, journalism, information technology, spiritual leadership, politics, music, stage direction, acting and fiction. The total sum of the grants amounted to 100 million roubles. The funds were allocated from the federal budget in line with the instructions Prime Minister Vladimir Putin voiced at the United Russia conference in Kislovodsk in July 2010.
