The basic purpose of the Stan 2,000 is the state-of-the-art production of high quality cold roll stock and galvanized roll stock.
Work on this project will make it possible for MMK to increase the proportion of cold roll and galvanized roll stock in its production, to extend the range of production, and to supply to auto manufacturers high quality cold mill and galvanized plate roll stock including from high-resistance steel brands meeting all modern requirements. All manufacturers of household appliances will be able to buy high quality cold rolled and galvanized sheet with required drawing groups, without surface flaws.
Total production in the new cold roll workshop will be 2 million tonnes yearly, including;
700,000 tonnes of galvanized products in coils per year;400,000 tonnes of cold roll (after annealing) in coils per year;900,000 tonnes of cold roll cold-worked products in coils.
The technological equipment of the new cold roll workshop will include:
- continuous turbulent pickling line in hydrochloric acid in conjunction with a 5-stand Tandem cold mill;
- continuous hot galvanizing aggregate;
- combined continuous annealing/hot galvanizing aggregate;
- slitting inspection unit with a yearly capacity of 300,000 tonnes;
- two package lines: No. 1, for processing annealed (400,000 tonnes) and galvanized coils; No.2, for processing cold-worked coils (890,000 tonnes).
The construction works, supply of equipment, and assembly of the 1st stage of the Stan 2,000 technological equipment have been practically completed. The assembly of the metallic structures and the basements for the equipment of the 2nd stage of the sheet mill workshop No. 11 is currently being completed. The equipment has been scrolled on the continuous pickling unit in the cold roll mill.
Assembly of the 2nd stage units is now at 30%.
In 2013, the new unit in the sheet mill workshop No. 11 will reach the project capacity, two million tonnes yearly, and produce 1,100,000 tonnes of metal products for car-makers and 900,000 tonnes of cold-worked sheet.
Capital expenses under the project, including for the contract equipment, will be about 44.54 billion roubles ($1.484 bn).
The expected economic effect from the project will be about 11 billion roubles yearly given the cost recovery period of about four years.
