The Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery, located in the Samara Region, is a part of the Samara group of refineries, which Russia's largest state oil producer Rosneft bought in May 2007.
The refinery was commissioned in 1951 and it pioneered the production of a variety of petroleum products in Russia, including jet fuel and oils for carrier rockets and cars.
In 1988 and 1998, the catalyst plant and oils and additives production were divested from the group as an anti-recession measure.
The Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery has 27 technological units that produce more than 30 types of products, in particular Technical Regulation Class 3 vehicle fuels and Class 3, 4 diesel fuels. The company supplies its products to clients across Russia and abroad by rail, sea, road and pipeline.
The refinery can process 8 million tonnes (58.5 million barrels) of oil a year supplied from West Siberian and Samara deposits via Transneft pipelines.
In 2009, it refined 7.4 million tonnes of oil into 6.6 million tonnes of finished product.
The Novokuibyshevsk refinery carried out a programme to cut dead weight losses to 1.0% in 2009 from 1.15% in 2008 and fuel consumption to 7.78% of the throughput from 8.49%.
In January-September 2010, the refinery processed 5.5 million tonnes of crude oil into 4.95 million tones of finished product.
