Construction of the timber mill began in August 2008, supported by the Foundation to Support Investment Projects in the Komi Republic (the fund is 100% owned by the Republic). Syktyvkar Industrial Complex is the first wooden housing construction company in the Komi Republic. It was created as a tool for participation in the national project "Affordable and Comfortable Housing for Russian Citizens", as one of the most promising projects for the development and deployment of human resources in the Republic of Komi to the year 2020.

As part of this project, the development of a forestry industry group for deep wood processing is envisaged through the efforts of Syktyvkar Industrial Complex , including the following stages:

Stage 1: Construction of timber mills

Stage 2: Development of timber harvesting

Stage 3: Development of transport infrastructure

Stage 4: Construction of a sawmill

As a result, Syktyvkar Industrial Complex will produce the following products:

- Prefabricated houses with an average area of 100 square metres in one-family and multi-flat versions – from 600 to 1,000 units per year

- Laminated veneer lumber for sale on domestic and foreign markets

- Sawn softwood.

In order to ensure the volume of raw materials of not less than 404,300 cubic metres per year, the project provides for a set of measures in the area of timber harvesting and development of transport infrastructure.

Since the beginning of the project, the following have been built and commissioned: a production building (with sections for drying lumber, laminated veneer lumber production, production of solid wood, the production of solid wood panels, wall panels and trusses, storage of finished products), an administrative building, a boiler and indoor storage for timber.

August 20, 2009 saw the official launch of the first line of wooden houses made of frame and solid wood panels. The plant's wood processing capacity is more than 60,000 cubic metres of lumber per year. The average number of personnel in the first half of 2010 was 163 people.
