1982-2002: held various administrative and financial positions in a number of Royal Dutch Shell subsidiaries in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Argentina and Chile.
2002: CFO and Executive Committee member of Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) Group of Companies, a leader in the production of power equipment as well as automation products and techniques.
Until September 2004: member of the Swiss-American Trade Chamber in Switzerland.
2004: CFO and Managing Director of Shell Transport and Trading.
2005: appointed to UBS AG Board of Directors.
2009: CEO of Royal Dutch Shell.
