LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez was designed to meet the Volga-Vyatka economic region's petroleum product demand, and was put into operation in August 1958. Over time, it emerged as a major oil processing enterprise, and one of the largest enterprises in the sector.
The oil refinery, producing fuel and lubricants, has been part of the LUKOIL Group since late 2001.
The LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez open joint stock company was made a limited liability company under the name LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez in June 2008.
As LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez possesses modern technology, it high quality products, including A-76, AI-92, AI-95 and AI-98 non-ethylated automobile fuels, TS-1, RT, and Jet A-1 aviation kerosenes, summer and winter diesel fuels, furnace fuel and mazouth, lubricants and additives, and hard paraffins and bitumen.
The refinery receives its oil through the Almetyevsk-Gorky and Surgut-Polotsk trunk oil pipelines. The enterprise mainly exports its goods to markets in northwestern Europe.
The enterprise had a workforce of 2,370 as of 2010, or 105.9% of the 2009 level. The average wage in 2010 was 37,937 roubles, or 110.4% of the 2009 level.
Oil processing at the enterprise from 2008 to the first half of 2010 was 41.5 million tonnes, including 16 million tonnes of crude in 2008, 16.2 million tonnes in 2009 and 8.4 million tonnes in the first half of 2010. Before LUKOIL bought the plant in 2001, it processed no more than 6.5 million tonnes of crude per year.
Over the last 2.5 years, the enterprise's profit amounted to 462.2 billion roubles less VAT – 200.8 billion roubles in 2008, 162.7 billion roubles in 2009 and 98.7 billion roubles in the first half of 2010. The enterprise paid 8.5 billion roubles in taxes less VAT recovery in 2008-2009 (6.2 billion roubles in 2008 and 2.3 billion roubles in 2009).
