Born August 15, 1954, in the village of Churapcha, Churapcha District, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Education:
1979: Graduated from the Novosibirsk Agricultural Institute, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Doctor of Economy, a member of the Plekhanov Russian Academy of the Economy.
Experience:
From 1971 to 1973: Began as a worker at Selkhoztekhnika's Churapcha-based unit, and made his way up to the position of top manager.
From 1985 to 1987: First deputy head of the agricultural department with the Churapcha District Administration.
From 1987 to 1991: Second secretary of the Churapcha District Committee of the Communist Party, chairman of the executive committee of the Churapcha District Council.
1991: Appointed deputy agriculture and food minister for logistics and farming machine maintenance and as CEO of the Yakutagrotekhsnab Association.
1992: Deputy prime minister of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
From 1998 to 2000: Minister of agriculture and procurement of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Concurrently, from 1997 to 2002, was director of the Yakutian Research and Development Institute of Agriculture.
2002 and 2003: First deputy prime minister of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
From 2003 to 2010: Prime minister of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Since June 2010: President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
