Mikhail Yurevich, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region

Born February 13, 1969 in Chelyabinsk.
Education
1986: Graduated from Chelyabinsk secondary school 138.
Graduated from South Urals State University with a degree in construction engineering.
Experience
1995: Appointed chairman of the board of directors of First Bakery Plant.
1997: Named "Man of the Year" for best industrial manager in Chelyabinsk. Initiated an association of enterprises, the Makfa Agro-industrial Association, known all over Russia.
1999 (and 2003): Elected deputy of the State Duma in Kalininsky constituency No.183.
Appointed deputy chairman of the Energy, Transport and Communications Committee in the Third Duma and a member of the Legislative Committee at the Fourth Duma.
2005 (and 2009): Elected Mayor of Chelyabinsk. He planned and implemented several significant social and charitable programmes in his constituency in Chelyabinsk. The best known project is Makfa Youth Volunteer Working Units which work to keep the city clean.
Other
2006-2010: President of the Association of Municipalities called Urals Cities.
Member of the Club of Russian City Mayors created under the All-Russia Local Government Council at the initiative of United Russia Party.
Member of the regional political council of the United Russia Party.
March 15, 2010: Dmitry Medvedev proposed Mikhail Yurevich to the legislative assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region as a candidate for governor of the Chelyabinsk Region.
March 22, 2010: Chelyabinsk Region legislature unanimously backed the president's initiative. Mikhail Yurevich was appointed Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region on April 22, 2010.
