Tambov-Moloko is a company of the Cherkizovo Group, one of the leading meat processing holdings in Russia.
The group is now running an investment project to set up a livestock sector in the Tambov Region, which will include a milk processing plant.
The plant (Tambov-Moloko) which is expected to have a daily capacity of 50 metric tons will cover the area of 2 hectares in the village of Streltsy. Construction began in spring 2009. Over the year the plant's capital assets received investments in the amount of 109.1 million roubles. General utilities (power, gas, water supply and water disposal systems) and driveways are finished. The milk processing factory was officially launched on March 24, 2010. The plant produces milk (3.2% fat), kefir (a fermented milk drink, 3.2% fat), ryazhenka (fermented baked milk, 4.0% fat), soured milk (3.2% fat), sour cream (25% fat) and cottage cheese (9% fat). The dairy products are available both on the retail market and through modern shop trucks and trade outlets.
The project has provided over 60 jobs. Upon reaching the planned production capacity, the supposed tax level should increase to 16 million roubles per year. Moreover, the Tambov Region would be supplied with dairy products of a guaranteed quality and at lower prices than those provided externally (delivery costs would be minimal).
The factory was opened as part of a project to establish a mass milk production complex which would also include mini-farms.
