Rustam Minnikhanov was born on March 1, 1957 in the village of Novy Arysh, Rybno-Slobodsky District in the Tatar ASSR.
Education
In 1978, Minnikhanov graduated from Kazan Agricultural Institute.
In 1986, he graduated from the Correspondence Institute of Soviet Trade.
Experience
Between 1978 and 1980, Minnikhanov worked as an engineer-diagnostician in the Sabinsky District's Association Selkhoztekhnika.
Between 1980 and 1983, Minnikhanov was Chief power engineer at Sabinsky, a forestry company.
Between 1983 and 1985, he was deputy chairman of the Sabinsky District Consumer Society Board.
Between 1985 and 1990, Minnikhanov was chairman of the Arsky District Consumer Society Board.
Between 1990 and 1992, he was chairman of the Executive Committee of People's Deputies District Council in the Arsky District.
Between 1992 and 1993, Minnikhanov was first deputy head of the Arsky District Administration.
Between 1993 and 1996, he was head of the Vysokogorsky District Administration.
Between 1996 and 1996, Minnikhanov held the position of Minister of finance of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Between 1998 and 2010, Rustam Minnikhanov was Prime minister of the Republic of Tatarstan.
On March 25, 2010 Rustam Minnikhanov became President of Tatarstan.
