Ak Bars Wrestling Palace

The Ak Bars Wrestling Palace is one of the sports facilities to be used for Universiade 2013 in Kazan. It will host various types of wrestling as well as Asian and power martial arts.

The Palace is over 25,000 square metres in floor space. The Palace includes an HVAC equipment room, a fitness centre and a sports facility. It features a multifunctional sports hall with 4 tatami mats and a spectator capacity of 3,000. It holds four judo, sambo (a Russian acronym that stands for "defence without weapons"), freestyle, traditional and Greco-Roman wrestling training halls. The palace also has a Special Junior School for Olympic Reserves and offers various classes on oriental martial arts (kendo, tae kwon do, aikido, kung fu, hand-to-hand fighting, and a variety of karate styles).

The sports hall is equipped with a special parquet floor and big-screen TVs to broadcast the competitions. The Ak Bars Palace has a press centre offering the latest communications equipment. The Palace's security system includes internal and external video surveillance and an electronic pass system.
