The prime minister announced a pension increase on April 1.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin quoted many figures in his speech at the meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development.

Putin promised that a doctor's salary would be double a respective region's average by 2018. Based on the ministry's tentative estimate, doctor's salaries must grow by an average of 20%-25% by the end of this year.

Putin said the government will continue increasing pensions. He recalled that since February 1 the insurance part of the labour pension had been raised by 7% and will be increased by another 3.4% on April 1. All in all, it will grow by more than 10%.

Social pensions will also increase by 14.1% starting on April 1, while various other social benefits will be increased by 6% each month.
