On Thursday evening Vladimir Putin attended a gala evening dedicated to Public Prosecutors Day in Russia (the public prosecutor's office celebrated its 290th anniversary yesterday) and congratulated them on their professional holiday.

"The main priority in the work of public prosecutor is the fight against corruption," the prime minister remarked. He said that "the public prosecutor's office has to be ready to put its own house in order."

Putin said that all checks on businessmen had been put under the auspices of the Public Prosecutor's Office. Moreover, according to the prime minister, prosecutors had already rejected more than 1.5 million claims for unwarranted checks and unscheduled audits of businesses.

The prime minister stressed they should not be putting obstacles in the way of businesses, but helping them to grow.
