The renovation of the Bolshoi Drama Theatre in St Petersburg is due to begin by the end of summer, Culture Minister Alexander Avdeyev told Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Saturday.
“Project documentation has been prepared and is now being reviewed by experts, which we hope will take no more than two weeks. After that, the renovation will start,” Avdeyev reported to the prime minister on the renovation of the Bolshoi Drama Theatre.
The minister said 700 million roubles have been allocated for the renovation. “Urgent repairs are finished. The theatre is holding performances on a temporary stage. They used to perform in the Variety Theatre, and now they have moved to the Gorky House of Culture,” Alexander Avdeyev said.
