Komsomolskaya Pravda: "Vladimir Putin: “We have reached the pre-crisis level in power industry”"

The prime minister took part in the launch of Eurasia’s most powerful electricity generating station.

Yesterday Prime Minister Vladimir Putin held a video conference during which the country’s newest power generating station was commissioned. He spoke three languages in the process.

“Last year Russia generated over a trillion kilowatt hours of electricity. We have reached the pre-crisis level,” Putin said, opening the video conference in Russian.

People in the Sverdlovsk Region and Surgut were listening to Putin with impatience. Everyone wanted to see the energy units go online as soon as possible.

Using the latest technology, E.ON Russia spent 32 billion roubles to construct new stations at the Surgutskaya state district power station. Initially, it was considered one of the world’s largest, but now it is known as the most powerful in Eurasia.

Putin was asked for permission to launch the first unit and he gave the go-ahead.

Next, Bernhard Reutersberg, a member of the Board of Management of E.ON AG, took the floor. The foreign investor reported that his company is planning to upgrade the Berezovskaya power station.

“What E.ON has done in Siberia is a big and important effort,” Putin switched to German and his audience did not understand at first that it was him talking.

The Sredneuralskaya state district power station  was also prepared to launch the new unit and did so at the prime minister’s command.

“I hope you don’t have any hard feelings because of that small, I would even say token, fine for the slight delay in the launch of the power sattion,” Putin asked Carlo Tamburi, managing director of the International Division at Enel.

“Absolutely not. This is an essential part of the agreement,” Tamburi replied.

“Congratulations to all of you. Grazie to our Italian partners, and arrivederci,” Putin said.
