DJ Smash has made a remix of the song "Blueberry Hills," as performed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Live on Radio KP (97.2FM) and KP-TV last night, we discussed a certain musical sensation – a remix of the Louis Armstrong song "Blueberry Hills," as performed by Vladimir Putin.

The song was remixed by the famous DJ, DJ Smash (also known as Andrei Shirman), whose hit "Moscow Never Sleeps" lit up the Russian music scene.

Q: DJ Smash, can you tell us why you chose to remix this particular version of "Blueberry Hills" performed by the prime minister?

A: When I first saw this video on the Internet I expected to see anything other than what I saw. It was awesome! I never heard any politician this high up sing or play a song. It gave me a good feeling. I found the track and remixed it to play it in the clubs. It is quite popular. People recognise the song right away and smile.

Q: While working on this remix, did you have to use a computer programme to fix some of the notes? Did the prime minister sing out of tune?

A: No, it was good. Honestly.

Q: Did Putin hit all of the notes?

A: It was perfect.

Q: Are you planning on making a video?

A: Considering that more than two million people watched the video online, not many people will want to see it again. It will most likely stay a club song. It should be played on the radio. People will listen to it online.

Q: What type of feedback are you expecting? From the musicians...

A: All that interests me is that people like it, that people want to dance to it. And of course, I want the performer to like it.

Q: Do you mean Putin? Who is supposed to dance to this remix? Politicians? Business managers? Ministers?

A: Young people, whoever wants to dance ...

EXCERPT FROM "BLUEBERRY HILL"

I found my thrill on blueberry hill
On blueberry hill when I found you
The moon stood still on blueberry hill
And lingered until my dreams came true

About the prime minister's vocals...

Mikhail Antonov, radio host: From a political standpoint, what do you think about Vladimir Putin vocal skills?

Alexander Gamov: If you're talking about his performance off the stage, like at a government meeting, you could not really call it a voice. But I can still pick out certain notes. They can be ironic. They can be lyrical. Serious, tragic... Vladimir Putin has quite a range.
