The Tskhinval City Hall has decided to name two main streets in Tskhinval's Moskovsky residential area after President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Construction of the district was financed by Moscow after the Georgian aggression of August 2008. The mayor's office of the South Ossetian capital is thus underscoring the significance of the Russian leaders in the history of the republic. The names of Medvedev and Putin are engraved on plaques in both Ossetian and Russian.
