Komsomolskaya Pravda: “Social pensions to be indexed in April”

At a meeting with Valery Ryazansky, leader of the Pensioners’ Union of Russia, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin suggested indexing two social pensions (a disability pension and a pension for people who for some reason do not receive labour pensions) simultaneously this April.

At a meeting with Valery Ryazansky, leader of the Pensioners' Union of Russia, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin suggested indexing two social pensions (a disability pension and a pension for people who for some reason do not receive labour pensions) simultaneously this April.

"On April 1, we will index social pensions according to inflation, and then, on July 1, we will adjust them to the subsistence level. However, this second indexation is insignificant. So I suggest merging the two indexations. That way, people will receive more money over a longer period of time – beginning in April rather than July," Putin said.

On February 1, labour pensions were increased by 8.8%, and if inflation exceeds 6%, they will be raised again."
