Komsomolskaya Pravda: “New mayor of Moscow awarded Stolypin Medal upon leaving administration”

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin began yesterday’s government meeting by congratulating Sergei Sobyanin, who was appointed mayor of Moscow.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin began yesterday’s government meeting  by congratulating Sergei Sobyanin, who was appointed mayor of Moscow.

Putin said: “Over two and a half years working in the government, Sobyanin has streamlined the administration’s performance. He has initiated and carried out a number of modernisation projects, such as the removal of administrative barriers to business, the formation of the e-government and many other things. I do not doubt that Sobyanin will bring the same amount of energy to his new position and find success. I’d like to announce that I’ve signed documents awarding Sobyanin with the First Class Pyotr Stolypin Medal.”

The new mayor of Moscow listened to Putin’s speech with a smile, waited for the applause to subside and asked Putin to give him the floor to reply:

“I’d like to say that I’m sincerely grateful for the experience I have accrued in the government. I’m particularly grateful to Vladimir Putin – I’ve gotten an education from him that cannot be replaced. I hope that although I won’t be a member of the administration anymore, I’ll still remain a player on your team. Almost no serious project in Moscow can be resolved without the government’s participation. I hope that I can count on your assistance and support.”

The government also discussed issues connected to sports.
