Yesterday, Vladimir Putin signed a resolution to carry out a national population census. The head count will take place between October 14 and 25 2010. Around 17 billion roubles in the national budget has been allocated for its purposes.
The government intends to document Russian citizens as well as their living standards. The application form will contain questions on migration history, employment situation, housing conditions, education and children.
The resolution also gives recommendations to local authorities, specifically to abstain from changing geographical names so that citizens will not have to deal with paperwork confusion.
