Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:
Vladimir Putin: Mr Loescher, I am glad to see you. We met only recently during the October 21 meeting with German business leaders organised by the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations.
We are implementing many joint projects, including those with Siemens. We will discuss some of them in detail today, in particular cooperation in the nuclear power industry.
What is important is not only that this is a high technology sector, because the power industry is a highly important sector in general. What is important is that special long-term relations are developing between your company and Russia's Rosatom. In fact, these are relations of strategic partnership.
This is especially important ahead of the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen. I believe that German and Russian partners should make a substantial contribution to the international community's environmental protection efforts.
Peter Loescher (as translated): Mr Putin, I would like first of all to thank you for this opportunity to meet today.
I would like to thank you personally for sending an official invitation to us last February, an invitation to cooperation in the sphere of high technology and strategic partnership.
I am speaking about a strategic partnership between Rosatom led by Mr Sergei Kiriyenko and the Siemens team. I would like to tell you that we have developed very good relations of mutual trust.
On the whole, our talks are proceeding well and we are developing relations of strategic partnership designed for years ahead. We complement each other well in this sphere.
