Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulated the chairmen of Russian Muslim Boards on Eid ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the sacred month of Ramadan

The message reads:

"The fasting trial is over, and with their beliefs reinforced, Muslims are joyfully celebrating this holy fest - the fest of moral perfection, people's aspiration for goodness and piety. It is gratifying that Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated against the background of positive changes in the Russian Muslim community. Disagreements go down in history; centralised organisations map out the Russian ummah's development plans. The building of mosques and educational facilities continues; the system of Islamic education, as well as preparation and organisation of pilgrimage is being improved. Cooperation with muftiats in the CIS and non-CIS countries is being expanded, with an inter-confessional dialogue on relevant issues maintained. Muslim communities are more actively engaged in the life of civil society; they fruitfully interact with the state and non-governmental organisations, contribute much to preserving and developing the rich national and cultural traditions of Russian ethnic groups and centuries-old Russian cultural heritage."
