The direction of the main investment projects were discussed at the meeting
Vladimir Putin
At a meeting with Alfa Bank president Petr Aven

Vladimir Putin: Good afternoon, Mr Aven. How are your programmes developing?

Petr Aven: I have told you about different projects of Alfa Group and Alfa Bank. Now I would like to discuss our achievements in international expansion.

In particular, Alfa Bank has bought a bank in Belarus. We are apt to think, judging by the present world situation, that this is good timing for this development. I mean consolidation in the banking sector and opening several world-class financial institutes in Russia. They will deal with commercial marketing, as well as banking investment.

I would like to tell you about our plans in this area.

Vladimir Putin: What about your main investment projects?

Petr Aven: I have mentioned that we work within the CIS, particularly in Belarus. Our area is the territory of the former Soviet Union, although now, we are developing projects in the South-East Asian markets. There is a lot to be done in this area.

Vladimir Putin: You mean that your main activity is connected with the communication sector, don't you? What are the other directions of your work?

Petr Aven: First of all, we work with oil and oil refining concerns; the company TNK-BP, communications, retail trade, X5 Retail Group - developing supermarket chains Pyaterochka and Perekryostok, and the financial sector. These are the main directions of our work.
